Protagonista di questo documentario è Freidrich Cerha, tra i più grandi compositori austriaci contemporanei, festeggiato in occasione dei suoi 80 anni, durante i quali ha scritto più di 130 opere. Il film lo segue mentre compone un nuovo concerto per violino, assiste alle prove, e poi alla prima mondiale. I flashback mostrano il suo sviluppo artistico ed i forti legami tra la sua vita ed il suo lavoro.

Freidrich Cerha, the most important contemporary composer in Austria today, is the subject of this documentary film made to commemorate his 80ieth birthday. Cerha has written more than 130 works. The film accompanies Cerha as he works on the composition of his new violin concerto, attends the rehearsals and then the world premiere. Flashbacks show his artistic development and the close links between his biography and his work.
