INTRODUCTION

Festival di Palazzo Venezia_Music is an international award competition of films and documentaries on music, dance and singing conceived by the non profit association DOC FEST. Its second edition will take place from 8th to 29th September 2006 in Rome, in Palazzo Venezia.
Films and documentaries must be produced between 2003 and 2006 to be admitted to the competition.
This editions brings a big innovation: Festival di Palazzo Venezia_Music (International exhibition of films and documentaries on music and dance) and Festival di Palazzo Venezia_Art (International Festival of films and documentaries on art, architecture, cinema and theatre) will be held together in a greater event.
Palazzo Venezia Museum will be for a fortnight a memorable place where the most important documentaries on art, architecture, music, cinema, dance and theatre produced from all over the world, in the last three years will be screened.

Festival di Palazzo Venezia_Music has three award categories:

1. MUSIC: documentaries and films on classical music, biographies of relevant authors, stories about music, documentaries on musical instrument manufactorers, documentaries on sound experiments, documentaries on projects and building of music halls, audio-visuals on exhibitions about music, history of classical music, and ethnomusicology.
2. DANCE: documentaries and films on ballet, modern and contemporary dance, backstage, staging, choreography, events, ballet/opera/drama crossover productions.
3. FOLK, POP & JAZZ: films on pop music, as instrument of social contacts and meetings. Documentaries on events, concerts, backstage from the world of pop, rock, jazz, folk and new frontiers of films on music, ethnic music, folk, street music, ballroom and acrobatic dance, etc.

SPECIAL SECTION OUT OF COMPETITION “A WORLD OF MUSIC”: in addition to the sections listed, the commission has decided to build a special section called A world of music, which will include films not selected for competition but deemed worthy of attention.

All the films submited must be produced between 2003 to nowdays.

A preliminary selection committee consisting of critics and specialists in music and documentaries will be headed by Rubino Rubini and Simonetta Cristiano. The committee’s decisions are final.

In addition to the sections listed, the commission reserves the possibility of offering a special section called A world of music, which will include films not selected for competition but deemed worthy of attention.

AWARDS

An international Jury consisting of seven eminent personalities representing the world of culture, music, journalism and show-business will award the following prizes:

1ST PRIZE OVERALL FOR BEST WORK IN COMPETITION
1ST PRIZE FOR THE SECTION – MUSIC
1ST PRIZE FOR THE SECTION – ALL ABOUT DANCE
1ST PRIZE FOR THE SECTION – FOLK, POP & JAZZ
PRIZE FOR BEST PHOTOGRAPHY
PRIZE FOR BEST EDITING
PRIZE FOR BEST SOUND TRACK
PRIZE FOR MOST INNOVATIVE WORK
SPECIAL PRIZE “REGIONE LAZIO”
will be assigned to the two best works of the special section out of competition “A World of Music”.

The Jury may also give special mention to other deserving competition entries. The Jury’s decisions are final.

RULES

Only films and videos produced between 2003 and 2006 dealing with one of the Festival’s themes may be admitted to the competition.
All languages are accepted although non-English and non-Italian productions must either be subtitled or dubbed in Italian or English.
Competition entries must be submitted by 15th May 2006 I NEW DEADLINE 31sh MAY 2006 and must include: an e-mail copy of the fully filled-in entry form (--> FILL IN ENTRY FORM)

By 31st May 2006 participants are also required to send to our address:

the materials listed below:
> a copy of the film ( PAL STANDARD) in Betacam SP, Digital Betacam, DVD or DVDCAM;
> a print of the entry form, filled in the details with an ORIGINAL SIGNATURE, indicating that the contest applicant has read and fully accepts the competition rules
> a payment receipt of the entry fee.

The entry fee is €50,00 for each work submitted, it can be paid by bank cheque or by bank transfer to the following account:

Participants are requested to indicate in the entry form which of the award categories they would like their film to be considered.
However, it is up to the preliminary selection committee to decide for which award category the entry might qualify or to admit the entry to the special section “A world of music”.

By entering the contest each individual filmmaker or producer is responsible for the content of his work and warrants that the grant of this licence will not infringe the copyright (sound or picture) or any other rights whatsoever of any third party. By applying the Festival the participants explicitly allows the use sound and picture materials.
DOC FEST may also show short clips or images from the submitted entries on television news, broadcasts and in all kind of promotion and communications activities related to the Festival.
Copyright’s owners also authorize further showings of their works without any charge for non-profit purposes.

The subscriber declares that all the submitted information are true and allows their use for promotional and communication purposes related to the Festival (catalogue, web site, press releases, etc.).
Subscribers will also be requested to send two pictures related to their film if admitted to the competition.

Both the admitted and the non-admitted titles will not be returned to the film senders, as they will remain for good in the archive of the Festival for documentary purposes. They will not be used for commercial purposes and could be seen within the archive for free.

Signing in the competition entry form implies full acceptance of all the terms and conditions.

These rules are considered part of the application form and must be signed and attached to it.

In case of controversy, the Court of Rome will have jurisdiction. Should there be any interpretation problems of terms and conditions, the Italian version will be considered final.

Personal information will be dealt according to the terms of Law no. 675 of 31/12/1996 and following changes and additions.
